The purpose of the LDL Cholesterol Direct test is to measure the low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in a blood sample. LDL cholesterol is often referred to as "bad" cholesterol because its concentration in the blood is directly linked with the risk of a heart attack and increases the risk of coronary heart disease, peripheral heart disease, and cardiovascular diseases.
